as the mission
it serves.

The problem

A mission worth telling.
A site that didn't tell it.

130 Primrose is the trading arm of Home Ground CIO, a charity that gives people experiencing homelessness fully paid work and a fair share of tips. That's not a side detail - it's the whole point of the business. Their old WordPress site didn't reflect it.

The old site was slow to load and hard to update on mobile, and their previous provider was slow to respond, so even small changes took too long. For a small team running a working restaurant, that friction meant the site quietly fell behind what the business actually was.

The work

Full rebuild.
Ground up.

A complete replacement, not a redesign - new stack, new copy, new structure, built around what 130 Primrose actually is.

01 / Migration
Full rebuild in Astro
Replaced the old WordPress site entirely with a fast, static Astro build, moving off the legacy host altogether.
02 / Content
Copy rewritten across the site
Every page rewritten to properly reflect the social mission - not an add-on section, but part of how the site reads throughout.
03 / Booking
OpenTable integration
Booking widget built directly into the site so reservations don't need a separate app or a phone call.
04 / Search
Structured data site-wide
Restaurant, Menu and BreadcrumbList schema markup added across the site to support search visibility.
05 / Photography
Professional photography, integrated
New photography, commissioned separately by the client, worked into the homepage, menus and gallery.
06 / Performance
Built for speed from the start
A static build with a 2MB page weight and a sub-3-second first-view load, on a site that previously ran slow.

In their words
"As GM of 130 Primrose, I needed a website partner I could trust to get the details right, and that's exactly what we got. The new site captures who we are far better than what we had before, and every round of feedback was turned around quickly without losing quality. Communication was straightforward throughout - clear updates, honest timelines, and always responsive when something needed fixing. It's rare to find someone who cares as much about the small details as the big picture. I'd recommend them without hesitation."

What this proves

Two lessons.
For any small business.

Lesson 01

A modern stack doesn't need the overhead.

A static Astro build replaced a slow legacy WordPress setup without adding complexity - fast by default, not by extra effort.

Lesson 02

Messaging takes as much care as design.

Getting a mission-driven organisation's story right on the page took as many rounds as the visual design did - and mattered just as much.

Replacing a tired site?
