Contract & document review assist.

First-pass review of contracts and engagement letters, done before a lawyer opens the document - risk clauses flagged, key dates extracted, a plain-English summary ready. Built for a law firm's engagement-letter and NDA volume so far; the pattern travels to any practice reviewing the same document types on repeat.

The problem

The associate spent an hour finding what a checklist could have found in five minutes.

Most contract review isn't complex judgment work - it's a first pass looking for the same handful of risk clauses, the same missing dates, the same deviations from a standard template. That work still eats an associate's or paralegal's morning, on every engagement letter and NDA that comes through the door.

The firms that come to us for this aren't looking to replace legal judgment. They want the repetitive first pass off their desk so the actual legal thinking starts sooner.

What we built

Five pieces, wired into what you already use.

First-pass risk clause scan

Flags indemnity, liability caps, termination and auto-renewal clauses against the firm's own standard playbook - not a generic legal-tech checklist.

Key date extraction

Renewal dates, notice periods and deadlines pulled into a structured summary, so nothing gets missed because it was buried on page 14.

Plain-English summary

A one-page brief a lawyer can read in two minutes before opening the full document, not a wall of extracted clauses to re-read.

Deviation flags against precedent

Highlights language that departs from the firm's own templates and prior agreements, so the review starts with what's actually different.

Full audit trail

Every flag links straight back to the source clause. Nothing is a black-box judgment call - the lawyer checks the reasoning in seconds.

Typical outcome

Ranges, not a single client's number.

This pattern is live with one legal client who isn't public yet. Until we can share their real figures with a case study, here's the honest range we typically see.

First-pass review time
Hours minutes
Per standard engagement letter or NDA, before a lawyer opens it.
Admin time saved
4-10 hrs/wk
Depends on document volume and how many templates the firm reviews on repeat.
Missed-clause risk
Consistent catch
Doesn't get tired at document forty of the week - flags the same risk clauses every time.

The honest part

Why there's no client name here yet.

This is genuinely live at one legal client. We haven't asked them to go public yet, so we're not attaching their numbers to this page - that's the same anonymization discipline we hold our named case studies to, just applied a step earlier.

If a client says yes, this entry gets upgraded with real figures and a link through to their case study, the way NYC Dental Group and our laptop retailer client did. Until then, you're getting the honest range, not a number we made up to look impressive.
